Pronouns, Packers, and Passing: A Deep Dive into Serving Trans Youth
Description:
Transgender youth often find themselves having to explain “Transgender 101” topics to service
providers in a variety of settings: education, healthcare, mental health, social services, etc. This
constant education regarding gender identity takes a toll on transgender youth. It is frustrating to
seek help from someone, only to spend much of your time providing an (unpaid) educational
service. This training will go beyond the basics of gender identity to discuss pronouns,
misgendering, transitions, mental health, transgender youth vocabulary, and the
macro/micro-aggressions trans folks experience in education, healthcare, and social service
settings.
The registration fee is $25, and includes 1.0 hour of continuing education credit for Social Work (SW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Continuing Professional Education (CPE), Community Health Worker, non-certified (CHW), Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), and Certificate of Attendance.
